I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! I truly enjoyed the time I got to spend with the boys while they had off for Spring break. We were very busy doing all kinds of fun things, and I made sure we didn't go into one clothing or food store the entire week to avoid any complaining! ;)

We had a beautiful Easter filled with fun, laughter and best of all, FAMILY!

NOAH'S FIRST T-BALL GAME

Today was Noah's first ever T-Ball game. It was only about 45 degrees, windy and overcast and everyone was freezing. Most of the kids thought the game was over after the first inning and we heard alot of "I'm cold"s and "I wanna go home"s, but they stuck it out and did a great job!

Today was opening day for Old Bridge Little League. Both boys are #4, Noah playing for Team DeLuca Chiropractic and Nick for Team TechSearch (Daddy's the sponsor and the coach!). After the parade on the field it was time for the kids' favorite part of the day...the free hot dog! We're all ready to start the season- Nick's first game is tomorrow night at 6 PM and Noah's is on Saturday at 10:30 AM.

Thank you to our faithful spectators Mamas, Grandma, Grandpa, Grammy and Gramps for coming today. And a special thanks to Grandpa Smak for doing our field duty!

NOAH'S 1ST T-BALL PRACTICE

This year the OBLL decided to allow 4 year olds to play T-Ball so we were very excited to sign Noah up! On Sunday he had his first practice with his team DeLuca Chiropractic. He did such a great job catching and batting and he had alot of fun running around the bases (and getting dizzy running around his bat- pic 5). Opening day is only a few weeks away!

Happy New Year! I can't believe it has been over four months since my last post. We have been very busy over the past few months and time has really flown by. Here's what the Brown family has been up to...

September brought us birthdays, first days of school and the beginning of the soccer season and gymnastics.

We celebrated Craig's birthday over the Labor Day weekend. Happy birthday, Daddy! (I am trying to upload the video here)

That night, the boys were on our local news channel NJN News. Look for them at the 1.05 mark playing the dart game on the Seaside Heights boardwalk!

September 7th was Nick's first day in a new school...

BATHROOM UPDATE: WE HAVE GRANITE!

Time for another bathroom update! On Tuesday our granite was delivered and installed on the shower curb and vanity top. Although it was a painful process, I am so happy with the final product. The granite looks beautiful and everything is finally coming together. Yesterday a contractor came to measure the shower for the glass walls and doors (scheduled to be installed next Friday or Monday) and today they installed the faucets for the sinks and in the shower. All that's really left for me to do is pick out lighting fixtures, hardware for the vanity and mirrors. Can't believe I've been working on this bathroom since June...I am definitely looking forward to having the whole project completed. I am not, however, looking forward to cleaning up all the dust that has accumulated throughout the house!

On Thursday we had Nick's 7th birthday party with his friends from school at Bounce U. It was utterly impossible to take any pictures of the kids bouncing because they were moving way too fast, but I was able to get a few of them going down the inflatable slides and playing some of the games. After they finished in the two bounce stadiums it was time for pizza and Spongebob birthday cake. Nick had so much fun with all his friends and got so many great gifts. BATHROOM UPDATE: ALMOST THERE

Our vanity has finally been installed and I'm really happy with how it turned out. After going to three granite yards (and almost giving up) I decided on a neutral colored granite for the vanity top and shower curb from All Granite and Marble in South Plainfield. It is scheduled to be installed tomorrow and I can't wait to see how it all comes together. All that's left now is to have the shower measured for the glass door and walls, choosing mirrors, lighting fixtures and accessories and to have the room painted. Believe it or not, I think I actually have the paint color picked out! ;)

On Tuesday, August 3rd Craig and I renewed our wedding vows before God and Pastor Dean Smith at Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Bailey's Bay, Bermuda. We had a very intimate and emotional ceremony in the garden overlooking the ocean to celebrate our 10 beautiful years of marriage. We feel Pastor Dean, although just meeting us, did such a wonderful job in making our ceremony so personal and memorable. Our photographer took so many candid photos and we feel he truly captured our personalities. I've included a few of my favorites below.

After the ceremony and taking many more pictures with the locals, Craig and I had a romantic "reception" dinner at the Harbourfront Restaurant in Hamilton.

We'd like to thank all of the people who helped make our vow renewal so special. Thank you to Mr. Anthony, our wedding coordinator at Grotto Bay, to Pastor Dean, to James Tavares, our photographer. Thank you to Dad, Elisa and Jared for the bottle of red wine that was waiting for us when we checked in. Thank you to Keith and Sue for the bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne that was in our room after our ceremony. Thank you to Mom and Dad Brown for dinner. Thank you to my Mom for being our alterations expert. And we'd especially like to thank Mom, Aunt Donna and Grandma for taking such good care of our sweet boys while we were away. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

They just get better with age! The Friday before Craig and I left for Bermuda I had the chance to get together with a few of my Delta Zeta sisters at the Metropolitan Cafe in Freehold for lunch. It was so great to see these girls and catch up! We had such a fun time and ended up moving our party to the bar...need I say more?!?

Nicholas planted this sunflower as a tiny seed in a plastic cup in his Kindergarten class. When he brought it home at the end of the year we transplanted it into a bigger pot and yesterday the beautiful sunflower finally opened! He is so proud of his flower... We are going to send these pictures to his teacher so she can see the wonderful job he has done and to let her know that we are thinking of her! :)

They are almost done tiling and will be finishing the grout tomorrow. I absolutely love the tile, it is beautiful and I am very excited to have so much more room in the shower! However, Craig and I are not completely satisfied with the quality of work that has been done and are meeting with our contractor in the morning before work resumes. We paid alot of money for our tile and it is very upsetting that it was put up the way it was. Hopefully everything will be resolved before we leave for vacation...

Hello everyone!

The summer is flying by and we are having lots of fun.

We just got back from spending the week in Ocean City, Maryland with my Mom, Rich, Cathy, Zak and Nora. We had a great time at the beach, swimming in the pool, playing lots of mini golf and eating lunch at our favorite restaurant Dead Freddies! The best part of the trip was being able to spend time with my boys and family. I will post the pictures soon!

Time for a bathroom update! The new "official" start date is Monday. I have been busy picking out fixtures and granite. There is so much out there to choose from. Honestly, the less of a choice I have the better! Here is a picture of the faucet group I settled on:

On another note, Craig surprised me with a trip to Bermuda for our 10th anniversary! We knew we wanted to go away to celebrate this milestone but we weren't sure if we'd actually be able to do it. We leave on August 1st and are staying at The Grotto Beach Bay Resort. We are planning to renew our wedding vows while we are there. So on top of working on the bathroom I am planning a mini wedding! I'm a little stressed since it's so last minute but I know everything will turn out perfectly. It's ALL GOOD! Here's a picture of the dress I bought over a year ago in anticipation of our celebration. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this dress and I can't wait to wear it.

MILESTONES

I hope everyone enjoyed the long 4th of July weekend! We have been very busy and loving every minute. I just wanted to share a few of the milestones Nick and Noah have reached so far this summer.

He was very excited for the Tooth Fairy to come (this child loves money!)

On another note, Noah seems to be responding well to the antibiotics he has been taking for the target lesions (bullseye rash) brought on by early onset Lyme Disease. He has another full bottle of amoxicillin to go (he's had three so far) and he still has a few of the lesion marks on his back but the Dr. seems confident that the infection and its symptoms will be completely cleared once the medication is finished.

We are in the middle of a heatwave and the boys and I have been sleeping on an air mattress in the basement to keep cool at night. Although they think it's great...my back doesn't agree! ;)Hopefully there will be a break in the hot weather soon. Stay cool!

After searching through three tile stores, I finally chose Crossville Palais tile in Louvre. The tile has been delivered and demo is set to begin next Wednesday. Next up...chosing granite for the vanity!

Getting his diploma!

Our sweet Nicholas graduated from Kindergarten on Wednesday. It seems like just yesterday he was starting pre-school at Good Shepherd and now he's a first-grader getting ready to start public school. Where does the time go?

First day of school- Sept. 2007

The kids worked so hard practicing for the ceremony and they all looked adorable in their caps and gowns. They sang "Listen" and "The Goodbye Song" and recited a poem called "We are Sunflowers". After the diplomas were handed out it was time to say an extra special "thank you" to Nick's teacher, Mrs. Carusi, who is retiring after 17 years of teaching there. Nick really enjoyed being in her class, and we feel very lucky to have had her during her last year of teaching.

After the ceremony ended we celebrated with make-your-own-sundaes at Friendly's.

We would like to say thank you to all our family who shared Nick's special day with us and for your thoughtful gifts!

On Sunday Craig participated in his second Lavaman Triathlon competition. Luckily the weather cooperated this year, and we were all up and out early enough to be able to see him complete each event. Although he was disappointed that he didn't beat last year's time (he came so close!), we couldn't be more proud of him for finishing the race. Next up... the Long Branch Tri on August 12th!

BATHROOM UPDATE: VANITY, CHECK!

As I mentioned in my last post, Craig and I have begun the process of remodeling our master bathroom. When we bought the house the bathroom was completely wallpapered in a Laura Ashley-esque floral pattern. We began taking it down with the hopes that a paint job and some new fixtures would give the room a little face lift. Unfortunately, the bathroom had other ideas. Due to a waterproofing problem in the shower (which the previous owners knew about- damn you home inspector) that caused Niagara Falls in our dining room, we must now re-do our entire bathroom. I've been very busy visiting tile places and have already ordered the vanity. Construction is due to begin the second week of July. Visit often for updates and to see how it turns out!

FRIED ZUCCHINI STRINGS

I had these once as an appetizer at the restaurant Via Veneto in Brick. I had a few zucchini, some leftover homemade marinara and a hankering so I whipped them up for dinner tonight!

FRIED ZUCCHINI STRINGS

Serves 4

1 medium zucchini

1 cup flour

salt & pepper

canola oil

parmesan cheese

marinara sauce

Heat 3 inches of canola oil to 350 degrees in a heavy saucepan or deep fryer. In a shallow baking dish mix flour with salt and pepper to taste. Using a grater or mandolin slicer, shred zucchini into long strips. Toss to coat in flour mixture, shaking off excess. Fry in batches until strings are golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve with marinara. Enjoy!

Craig and I are in the process of remodeling our master bathroom so I haven't had much time to blog. (Anyone who knows me knows that picking out tile, paint, etc. is not something I enjoy...but that's a whole other story.) A SPECIAL DAY

Dear Jessie,

Happy Birthday! It's hard to believe you would have been 30 years old today. Mom and I celebrated by going to dinner with friends and seeing Sex and The City 2. I'd like to think that would be something we would've done together if you were here. I often find myself wondering what you would be like if you were still here. Where you would be in your life. There are so many things you have missed, there are so many things I feel like I have missed out on because you're not here. I watch other sisters and I hope they realize how lucky they are just because they have their sister in their life. I really miss having you here, but what I probably miss most is that you are not here to be a part of my boy's lives. I know you would've been a great aunt, and it makes me sad that they will never know you like I did (even though I know you held them before I did :). I can't believe you have been gone for 23 years. To me, you will always be that mischievous little 7 year old with a gleam in your eye. I can't believe my own son will be 7 in just a few short months, and I struggle with that in so many ways. But I find comfort in knowing you are still around...I see you in every butterfly, in every beautiful day, in Nick's smile, in Noah's eyes.

I miss you everyday.

THE WEDDING OF Q AND U AND PARENT'S TEA

The school year is winding down and the kids have been very busy practicing their school plays and graduation ceremonies.

Nick's Kindergarten class put on "The Wedding of Q and U" to celebrate the fact that the letters "q" and "u" are always together as a united pair. Think about it, there are no words that you commonly use where q isn't followed by u! The kids worked really hard putting this wedding together and they all looked so adorable dressed up. Believe it or not, Nick didn't give me any trouble over getting dressed up -since he considers anything with a button or zipper "fancy"- he took his responsibilities as an usher very seriously! After the ceremony they held a reception in the gym and we all enjoyed some delicious wedding cake. Next up...graduation!

Noah's Pre-K class doesn't have a formal graduation ceremony, so they had a "Parent's Tea" to celebrate moving up to the next class and to sing some of the songs they have been working on during the year.

Spring home improvement fever has hit the Brown household! Warmer weather always gets me in the mood to get some stuff done around the house. Monday we had the ginormous tree removed in our front yard. We had worries about it's stability and the roots were running on the surface of the ground toward the house so we decided taking it down was the best option. I'm going to miss the shade it provided but I love having the front yard wide open for the kids to play in...and you can finally see our house! We spent the weekend painting the garage doors, trimming all the trees and bushes and mulching the front and back yards so the only thing left to do is have sod put down where they ground out the stump. So happy when I can cross something off my to-do list! Now if only I could pick paint colors...;)

MOTHER'S DAY

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day...I certainly did! Craig took me and the boys out to dinner on Friday night at Windansea in the Highlands since I would be cooking for our Moms on Sunday. My sweet Nicholas woke up early in the morning to make me a bowl of Trix for my Mother's Day breakfast and then I got to open the gifts he and Noah made me at school. We spent the rest of the day with Mom and Rich, Craig's parents and Grandma Brown having dinner, drinks and lots of laughs. It was the perfect ending to a perfect Mother's Day!

A SEX AND THE CITY WEEKEND!

Mom and Rich surprised me with a weekend in NYC for my birthday, so being huge Sex and the City fans, Mom and I packed our Manolo's (actually I was wearing my Old Navy flip-flops and she was wearing her most recent DSW steal) and headed into New York Saturday to have dinner, take in a Broadway show and enjoy the city just as Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte did back in the SATC days. We had the best time...no Times Square bomber could ruin our night! (Yes, we were in the middle of the whole mess and had no idea what was going on.) We had dinner at the famous Sardi's restaurant, saw Chicago (seeing Broadway musicals always makes me want to dance again) and stopped for a few drinks before heading back to our hotel. Since we didn't have plans set for Sunday I surprised Mom with tickets for the Sex and the City bus tour for Mother's Day. This tour is a must for any SATC fan. We got a chance to see where many of the episodes were filmed while visiting parts of the city we wouldn't normally visit. It was so much fun walking in the steps of the girls' Jimmy Choo's. The best part of the weekend was getting to spend some much needed time with my Mom!

Thanks Mom and Rich, it was a weekend I'll never forget. Can't wait for SATC2!

We saw Chicago the Musical, a must-see for any dancer and Bob Fosse fan. Matthew Settle from Gossip Girl starred as Billy Flynn...we got to see him come out of the stage door!

My cousin Michele, her husband Michael and their adorable daughter Emily were up from North Carolina last weekend so we were able to get together with them and my Dad, Elisa and Jared for dinner and spend some time catching up. This was the first time we met Emily and the boys had so much fun playing with her and their old baby toys while the adults had dinner. Last Saturday was Nick's first little league game of the season. Half the game was coach-pitched and the other half was off the t. Nick did great, and hit the ball all three times he was up at bat. This morning Craig, Noah and I went to Nick's "Dinosaur museum" held by his Kindergarten class at school. Each of the kids had to make a "dino-rama" to put on display, and they took turns running different stations around the room. You could make dinosaur rubbings, dig for fossils, watch a volcano erupt (this was a big hit) or play a dinosaur feeding game. Nick was very proud of his "dino-rama". He worked on it over a month, taking the time to decide what he wanted it to look like, then make all the different parts of the scene. Of course, I had fun doing it too and had to remind myself to hold back a bit, it was his project and not mine! ;)

Pucker-Up Martinis

Makes 5 cups

1 can (12 oz) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

2 cups cold water

6 oz vodka (I used 8 oz- no one noticed)

2 cups ice cubes

1. Stir lemonade concentrate, water and vodka in a small pitcher. Add ice; stir.

2. Rim martini glass using lemon and dipping in sugar. Strain martini into martini glasses. Garnish with sliced lemon. Enjoy! (WARNING: These are probably too good...you can't taste the alcohol in them!)

TURTLEBACK ZOO

On Friday we took a trip to the Turtle Back Zoo with Mom and Rich. We had lots of fun visiting the exhibits and seeing all of the animals. The highlight of the trip for me was the train ride...which took us through a storage shed and by the scenic reservoir! The kids kept saying, "There's a stick, there's another stick.", because basically that's all you saw. Wonder why no one wanted to go on it again with me?

The zoo is a good size for the little ones but there weren't many animals on display (only one penguin? How lonely!). They are doing some renovations so hopefully that will change. The boys did have fun petting the goats, playing on the playground and in the prairie dog exhibit!

We played a hysterical game of I Spy on the way home. Nick's got the hang of it but Noah was naming things he saw in his head! We were laughing so hard...

On Friday Mom and Rich treated us and Craig's parents to The Ringling Bros. Circus at the Izod Center. You can't just be the bearded lady or bark like the yak boy anymore. You have to have some serious talent to be a performer in the circus! We all had a great time watching the show. Here are some pictures of the fun!

We had dinner at Debbie and Craig's before the show and since the next day was Rich's birthday Debbie surprised him with a cake!

HOMEMADE GNOCCHI

I've always wanted to try my hand at homemade pasta. I recently came across a potato gnocchi recipe online, and in the comment section someone wrote that they use ricotta cheese instead of potatoes (ricotta gnocchi is a traditional Florentine pasta, a much lighter version of northern Italy's potato gnocchi). I decided to try the ricotta version on Saturday. It was really easy to make and came out delicious. So delicious in fact that the kids requested I make more "me-okeys" for dinner on Sunday! Since I wanted to perfect my own recipe and practice rolling the little dumplings out I happily obliged. The second time was much quicker and I was really happy with the results. I tossed them with my basic homemade tomato sauce and grated parm. Perfecto! Here's my recipe and a few pics...

HOMEMADE RICOTTA GNOCCHI

1 15oz. container part-skim ricotta cheese

1 large egg

1/2 c grated parmesan cheese

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup flour

Thoroughly combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl. Cover and refrigerate 15 minutes. Prepare a baking sheet by lightly dusting with flour. Sprinkle work surface and hands with flour. Cut dough into four equal parts. Roll one part at a time into 3/4" thick logs. Cut into 3/4" pieces and place on prepared baking sheet. Continue with other three parts. (You can also make the traditional gnocchi shape by rolling the dumplings off the back of a fork with your thumb.) Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. When water is boiling place half of the gnocchi into the pot, stirring so they do not stick. Once gnocchi float to surface continue cooking 1-2 minutes more. Remove from pot with slotted spoon and place in strainer to continue draining. Repeat with second half of gnocchi. Immediately toss with sauce and serve. Enjoy!

February is always a very busy month for us. Between all the birthdays, holidays and our anniversary...add in a couple of snowstorms and days off from school and before you know it the month is over! Rather than make a half dozen posts I'm going to condense them all into one. Here are some pictures from our adventures in February!

Craig and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Harrah's in Atlantic City. We spent three nights there while his parents took care of the kids. We had such a wonderful, relaxing time! Here we are in the cabana we rented at the pool.

We had a wonderful dinner at The Steakhouse. (They have THE BEST pretzel rolls!) They even brought us out complimentary chocolate cake. Yum! After dinner we headed to a comedy show at the Borgata.

Then we danced the night away (until 4 AM!) at The Pool After Dark and the lobby bar. This is a self portrait :)

Later in the week we celebrated my bday at Mom's...she made a marvelous meatball manifesto with a yummy homemade Reese's cake (designed by Nick, of course). For my gift she and I are going to the city overnight for dinner and a show. I can't wait for that!

I have such a wonderful, loving and large extended family! We continued my birthday celebration at Craig's parents where we all went out in the snow for some fun. There was a major snowball fight...even Gramps got in on it!

Nick and Noah had so much fun spending time with their cousin Matteo (Giovanni was nice and warm inside). Here they are with Gramps in front of the snowman Grandma helped them make (if you look closely you will see "he" is anatomically correct. Great.).

I love this shot! They each took turns climbing up this hill and sliding down. Fun!

Yesterday we had a delicious birthday lunch at Dad and Elisa's. I forgot my camera and since they are digitally challenged I don't think I'll get any pictures of that! Ha! The boys had fun playing with Sasha Louise and playing PacMan with Jarek.

There's nothing better than knowing you have no plans for the day except to play with your kids in the snow! We got all dressed up a la Ralphie in The Christmas Story and headed out into the white stuff. After about a half an hour, lots runny nose wiping and a failed attempt at a snowman the kids were ready to go in. Geez...I remember staying out until my toes were frozen, and even then my parents had to drag me in! haha Once we got inside we made snow ice cream...which tastes sort of like a McD's vanilla milkshake with earthy undertones. Nick gives it a thumbs up! Here's the recipe:

Snow Ice Cream

2 quarts FRESH CLEAN snow (stay away from any that is yellow or brown)

1 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

Mix together adding milk to desired consistency

(I put it in the freezer for a while before eating it) YUM!

We had planned on having dinner at our house to celebrate Mom's birthday but Noah was still running a fever, and with Rich's upcoming surgery we decided it would be best to move the party to minimize germ exposure. So I packed up the entire German inspired dinner I had planned (a nod to our heritage) and Nick and I brought our "meals on wheels" over to their house. Sauerbraten and gewurztraminer...prost!

After some confusion with our reservations, the "Smith's" descended upon Iberia Peninsula in Newark to celebrate Elisa's 50th birthday. (The boys stayed home with Craig's parents so we got to enjoy a very much needed grown-up night out.) The Portuguese food was delicious, although there was way too much of it, and the sangria flowed. After everyone had their fill of meat and seafood it was time for birthday flan. I was told I could only show pictures of the mariachi band, but no one is safe from the blog!

My new Sony camera has great editing features. One of our favorites is called "Happy Faces" and it changes the smiles of the subjects in your picture on a level from 1-5. Since Nick was home yesterday (with one of his infamous mystery fevers) he and Noah were running around the house with underwear on their heads. NOAH'S FIRST DAY OF PRE-SCHOOL

Today was Noah's first day of pre-school. He seemed really excited to start, asking me every morning for a week if it was his first day, but when it came time for us to actually go he was a little clingy and wanted to know if I was going to stay with him. When we got there we found his friend Nora and they went off to play together so I snuck out before he could notice. It was really strange walking out of the school without anybody attached to me! When I went back to pick him up I peeked through the window and saw that he had been crying, but he said he still wanted to come back again on Friday. I couldn't get much out of him about his day except that a little girl was barking at him, he had a cupcake for Michael's birthday, he sat next to Michael at snack time and he sat next to Michael in music class. I have to find out if there really is a Michael in his class! haha

I'm a little sad that my "baby" is in school but I am excited because it will give me a chance to do some things with Nick's class that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to do. Next week I am helping them make their papier mache solar system and the week after I get to chaperone their trip to the planetarium. I am very much looking forward to doing both.

A DAY AT THE MUSEUM

We are big fans of "Night at the Museum" so ever since we saw the movie Craig and I have wanted to take the kids into the city to visit the American Museum of Natural History. I don't know what on Earth possessed us to take them the Tuesday during winter break, but we did, and it was PACKED. It was hard to get around and we did alot of waiting, but we were able to see some of the sights from the movie. Here are a few pictures from our adventure!

TWO WHEELIN'

Craig's parents bought Nick a new bike for Christmas and since it was so warm out today we decided to give it a try. I persuaded Craig NOT to put the training wheels on it since Nick has been doing so well riding his Razor scooter. After a few spills and LOTS of running up and down the street next to him, my baby was riding a two wheeler! He had such a blast and kept wanting to practice (despite almost heading into the ONLY car parked on the street...a Mercedes of course). I'm sure once Spring gets here there'll be no stopping him!

It's amazing the overwhelming sense of pride you feel when your child accomplishes something on their own. I couldn't be more proud of all the wonderful things my boys have done over the past year!

TOUGH LOVE- A POTTY TRAINING STORY

UPDATE 12/10: Noah is officially potty trained and will begin Pre-school Jan. 6th!

Try finding an article or pediatrician who will tell you tough love is the way to potty train your stubborn three and a half year old. You won't. After reading about "readiness cues" I fell into the idea that my precious little Noah, who is now producing man-sized dumps, was not ready to tackle potty training and that his resistance would (eventually) subside. I should not push him or I would surely suffer dire consequences. Would my son be going to high school in diapers?

Then my eyes were opened. I had lost all control. Noah needed to be trained, and I needed to step up and do it. After I mentally prepared myself for loads of laundry, cleaning up accidents and being stuck in the house for a week I decided that after we used the last package of diapers I was not buying any more. I made sure I prepared Noah, counting down the last few diapers and telling him they didn't make them in his size anymore. Then on Sunday we did it. We ditched the dimps. Of course it was horrible. Noah screamed and looked so pathetic with tons of snot running down his face. At first there were a few accidents, but I let him sit in his wet pants for a little while before I changed him. When he let loose on my kitchen floor I ran him to his potty seat and had to physically hold him down so that he could finish peeing in it. After lots of patience, repetition and encouragement (and bribes...he probably ate his weight in "Wonka" bars) he made it through the day, going pee pee on the potty three times.

He has never been a fan of Pull-ups, so when it was time for bed he did not want to put one on. This was fine with me, I mean, they're great at night and if you want to leave your house but it's one more thing you have to get rid of. So I put him to sleep without one, and he stayed dry all night! (Which, coincidentally, was one of the only "readiness cues" he had.) Monday brought more of the same, crying and screaming "I hate the potty...it's dumb", but we kept at it during the day and he stayed dry through the night again.

Of course it was the same routine this morning. But I'm happy to report that today was a break-through day. He told me each time he had to pee and even stopped playing outside to go. Then it happened. He told me he had to poop so we ran into the basement (where he prefers to go) and he went poopies in his potty! We're heading straight to Target tomorrow for a special reward from the toy aisle! I am so proud of him, and I think he is proud of himself. I know we still have a ways to go, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. For all those Moms out there who are nervous about potty training , it's time to regain control! It's OK to use tough love as long as you are loving and encouraging while you do it.

I thought this day would never come. I am a potty training survivor.

DECORATING THE TREE

After Nick's program we decorated our Christmas tree. I always love taking out all the ornaments we've collected over the years and reminiscing about the history of each one, a tradition passed on from my Mom. I just love the glow of the lights and the way it looks when it is all done (pictures don't do it justice!).

Saturday was Nick's Christmas program at school. Since he's in the "big time" now, he and the rest of his Kindergarten class got to dress up in costumes and tell the story of the birth of baby Jesus (well, there weren't actually any words...which Nick was very happy about). He was one of the Wisemen, and even though our little king was under the weather he did a wonderful job singing every song this year! After the play the kids had a cookie party in their classroom.

FUN IN HERSHEY

We had a great weekend in Hershey! Craig and I didn't tell the kids about the trip so they would be surprised on Friday morning. Instead of taking Nick to school we headed to "The Town Built on Chocolate"! We stopped at the ginormous Cabela's sporting goods store on the way out where we met up with the next part of their surprise...Beema and Grandpa! We explored the store and had lunch in their cafeteria where Craig tried the elk burger- the rest of us were not as adventurous!

Our first stop when we got to Hershey was, of course, Chocolate World. It wasn't too crowded so we hopped on the Great American Chocolate Tour ride twice- and yes, they still give you free chocolate at the end. The kids packaged their own candy at Factory Works, then we headed off to The Hotel Hershey to check in. The hotel just finished a major renovation and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We had dinner at the Fountain Cafe then took a drive through Hershey's Sweet Lights display. Our favorite part was singing "The 12 Days of Christmas". After the kids went to bed Craig and I snuck out (while Beema watched the kids from an adjoining room) for some chocolate martinis!

Saturday morning we had a yummy buffet breakfast at The Circular Dining Room then went back to Chocolate World for another turn on the chocolate ride and a chocolate tasting course at Hershey University. We went to Hershey Park's Christmas Candylane for the rest of the afternoon...going on rides, visiting Santa's reindeer and having a blast! Craig, Nick and I went on the Scrambler three times, I was hysterically laughing to the point of tears every time because the three of us barely fit in the car. After the park we had a nice dinner at one of the hotel's new restaurants called Harvest, then we took the kids "ice" skating on their all-year skating rink. The boys did alot better than me...I was hanging on to the side for dear life! After skating we made s'mores at the fire pit- yum!

Sunday morning we took the kids swimming in the indoor pool then it was back to Chocolate World for a fourth and final chocolate ride and some lunch. We made a quick stop at the Outlets at Hershey then it was time to hit the road for home!

We had so much fun and we really want to thank Beema and Grandpa for taking us on such a wonderful trip! We love you!

Yesterday we took a drive up to Butler to visit Chris, Marla and Matteo and meet our new nephew/cousin Giovanni. The kids had so much fun playing with Matteo and Craig and I had lots of time to hold the baby. He's absolutely adorable and so tiny! He's such a good baby, he didn't make a peep the whole time we were there. We managed to get a couple of cute pics of the kids...I'll upload them as soon as I can. We're looking forward to going back up to celebrate Matteo's 3rd birthday in a few weeks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD/GRANDPA

Last night Dad, Elisa, Jared and Sasha Louise came over to celebrate Dad's birthday. I made the Penne with Eggplant Puree again (so easy...and yummy!) and a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cake I found here on Heather's Drive's website. I used my fave Devil's Food mix instead and the peanut butter buttercream icing took some time to make but it was well worth it. It was delicious. This is the first cake I've made that actually looked even! hahaha

We had fun catching up- I had pulled out some old pictures of Koko B. Ware and Bam Bam Bigelow I found from back in the day when we used to go to wrestling matches that gave us a good laugh. Jarek actually PLAYED (Nerf dart guns) with the kids...they were in heaven! Then Dad opened his gifts. We got him a Rutger's tailgating chair (my Dad may be THE most loyal Rutger's football fan out there, we actually call him "Foam Finger Frank"), I think his collection of Rutger's paraphernalia may now be complete! NICK LOSES TOOTH #2!

Nicholas lost his second tooth at school on Monday. He bit into his pizza at lunch time and spit out his bottom tooth! His teacher's aide Miss Judy put it in a Ziploc bag in his backpack for safe keeping. He couldn't wait to put it under his pillow for the Tooth Fairy. I must admit I'm sometimes caught off guard by his questions, and I'm not the best at little white lies, so when he asked me if there was one Tooth Fairy or lots of Tooth Fairies I choked. I asked him what he thought and said, "I think there are lots of Tooth Fairies all over the Earf". I agreed, adding that there are so many teeth lost everyday that the Tooth Fairy needs "helpers" to gather them all!

His adult tooth is coming up where he lost his first tooth and it looks so huge. I just keep picturing Nick with a whole mouthful of huge teeth. I have to keep reminding myself the he will (hopefully) grow into them!

OUR TRIP TO MARYLAND

Saturday we hit the road bright and early with Mamas and Pop and drove down to Maryland to visit Cathy and Zak and meet my new niece Nora. We stopped at the half-way point to have breakfast at my favorite Turnpike stop (next to Roy Rogers), Cracker Barrel. I've come to realize that it's the country store I like so much, NOT the food. Anyway, we headed straight to the house so we could get our baby fix! Nick didn't seem too impressed with his new cousin but Noah was slightly interested. Mostly they just tortured poor Peepster(s) the cat. Nora is at the stage where she is starting to smile... it's so adorable! She is such a good baby. It's hard to believe Nick and Noah were ever that small. The days seem to go so slow, but the years go by so fast! Mom and Rich watched Nora so Cathy and Zak could go to dinner and we took the kids back to the hotel so they could get some sleep.

The next morning we had a nice buffet breakfast and then went to DC to visit the Museum of American History. There were some really great exhibits we got to see- costumes from Star Wars, Julia Child's kitchen- Bon Appetit!, the dresses of the First Ladies, the actual Star Spangled Banner, Dorothy's shoes from the Wizard of Oz and of course, President Lincoln's top hat! (For those of you who don't know I have been on a mad hunt to see this hat!) I don't know what it is about it, maybe it's the feeling of seeing something from and being connected to our history. I finally got to see it, and it was an amazing moment.

We went back to Cathy and Zak's for a few more family pictures then it was time to head home. We had a great weekend and can't wait to go back again. We are also looking forward to spending the upcoming holidays together!

Today is my bestest friend Mary's birthday. We have been friends since freshman year of high school and have been through everything together...boyfriends, break-ups, marriages, children, moves...and through it all we have managed to have the kind of friendship every person should be lucky enough to have in their lifetime. Mary is one of the only people who can tell me what to do, and I actually listen. She is beautiful, caring, understanding, a great listener and advice giver, a wonderful Mom and funny as hell. I have the best stories of all the memories we've made over the years and I really believe we will be the two old ladies on the front of the Shoebox card shopping for orthopedic shoes together.

I am truly blessed to have a friend like you in my life. Happy birthday Mar, I LOVE YOU!!

FALL WEEKEND

We went to Vernon this past weekend to celebrate Gram & Gramps' 60th anniversary with dinner in the wine cellar at the Chateau Hathorn in Warwick, NY (where Craig proposed to me!). We had a wonderful time celebrating their milestone with the whole family. Eating dinner in the cellar was a little chilly but the food and wine were delicious and warmed us right up! I tried getting a picture of the everyone together but the server wasn't the best photgrapher...

Sunday we took a trip to Heaven Hill Farm with Grandma and Grandpa for pumpkin picking. The kids had fun panning for "gems", feeding the animals and going on rides. We took a hay ride into the pumpkin patch but the pumpkins were so huge we decided to hold off on getting one. After a snack of kettle corn and apple slider (as Nick used to call it) we headed to Wawayanda State Park for a picnic and some playground time.

Since Nick had off from school Monday we took him and Noah to their favorite, Chuck E. Cheese's, for lunch and games.

I just love this time of the year!

Since our previous attempt had been washed out we were determined to go camping at least once this season. So after Nick's soccer game Saturday we packed the car up and, despite the monsoon, headed to Butterfly Camping Resort in Jackson. Butterfly is a small, family owned campground with lots of little activities for the kids. It was a little local-yokey ("Coot", who resembled Santa Claus wearing sweatpant cut-offs and cowboy boots, was giving tractor rides around the camp) but everyone was very friendly. We had decided due to the unpredictable weather to rent one of their "bare bones" cabins for the night. The cabin was great...it had a bunk bed, double bed, fan w/ light and cable TV (who said we were roughing it?).

Luckily the weather ended up cooperating with us and the sun came out. We played on the playground and played ping-pong and air hockey in the game room. Since we were too cheap to pay for mini-golf the kids made their own fun by collecting "peanuts" (a.k.a. acorns) to roll into the holes. After dinner we built a campfire and of course made s'mores. (I think the kids are going to look like s'mores soon!) When the boys went to sleep Craig and I were able to enjoy the fire, have a few glasses of wine and play cards- all the while dodging the killer acorns that were falling out of the trees. I got stuck sleeping in the top bunk since Nick chickened out and woke up quite sore!

We made pancakes and eggs for breakfast and then played on the playground before it was time to head home. We had so much fun spending time together. Here are a few pictures of our camping adventure!

My step-dad Rich was admitted to St. Peter's ER yesterday for abdominal pain. An ultra-sound and CAT scan revealed a gall bladder "abnormality", and it seems surgery is in the near future (possibly tomorrow) to correct the problem. All prayers for both him and my Mom are greatly appreciated!

Get well soon, Pop...WE LOVE YOU!

UPDATE: During Rich's week-long stay at St. Peter's the surgeon determined that surgery would not be possible due to a massive infection in his gall bladder. A drain was inserted to decompress the gall bladder and high doses of antibiotics were given to help clear up the infection. He is now home and feeling much better (with the exception of having a drain hanging out of his side). Surgery to remove the gall bladder has been scheduled for November 12th. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

PENNE WITH EGGPLANT PUREE

I love to cook, which probably gives my Mom a good laugh since I had absolutely no interest in it growing up. In fact, I never let my foods touch and there was no way I was going to touch raw meat! Alot has changed since then and now I enjoy experimenting with different recipes when life as a busy Mom (with picky kids) lets me.

I'm normally not a big fan of eggplant, but our neighbor had given us some from her garden and since I had already made eggplant parm I decided to try something new. This recipe is my adaptation of Giada De Laurentiis' "Penne with Eggplant Puree" from her Giada's Kitchen cookbook (her version includes mint and toasted pine nuts). It is delicious and hearty with a kick of heat. I think this is going to become a staple in the Brown household and is definitely company worthy!

Penne with Eggplant Puree

4 to 6 servings

1 med. eggplant, unpeeled, cut into 1 in. cubes

1 pint cherry tomatoes

3 garlic cloves, whole

3 tbsp. olive oil

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1 tsp. red pepper flakes

1 pound penne pasta

1/4 cup torn fresh basil leaves

3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In large bowl, combine eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes. Spread on prepared baking sheet in an even layer. Roast in the oven until vegetables are tender, about 35 minutes.

Meanwhile, boil pasta until al dente, 8-10 minutes. Drain pasta, reserving 1 1/2 cups cooking liquid, and transfer pasta to serving bowl.

Transfer roasted vegetables to a food processor. Add torn basil and EVOO. Pulse until vegetables are pureed (not too smooth, it should be a bit chunky). Transfer pureed vegetables to bowl with pasta. Add the parmesan cheese. Stir to combine, adding cooking liquid 1/2 cup at a time until pasta is saucy. Enjoy!

CAMPING WASHOUT!

We were all set to go to Turkey Swamp this weekend for our second annual campout, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and it was a total washout! So Craig came up with the idea to have a "campout" in the basement. The boys helped pitch the small tent and we added all our sleeping bags and pillows to make our beds. We made microwave s'mores (which are SO easy and yummy when you don't have anywhere to toast marshmallows!) and watched movies until it was time to go to sleep. Nick and Craig ended up on the couch while Noah and I toughed it out in the tent...my neck is paying the price today. We all had such a great time, I'm sure there will be more basement campouts in the future. And hopefully a real one, too!

Microwave S'mores

1 serving

1 graham cracker, divided

1/8 Hershey bar

1 marshmallow

Place one half of the graham cracker on a microwave safe plate. Top with chocolate and marshmallow. Microwave 30 seconds (marshmallow will get VERY puffy). Add second half of graham cracker and press down until marshmallow is flattened and chocolate is melted. Enjoy!

NICK'S FIRST SOCCER GAME

Yesterday Nick, Coach Daddy and the rest of Team Netherlands had their first game of the season. Nick started out as goalie...he looked so little inside the net! The kids did such a great job and they really seemed to have fun. Of course, there was the usual cartwheels across the field, grass picking, running the wrong way, little group of "bees" chasing the ball. But that's what makes going to the games so much fun! Our usual spectators came to cheer our Nick-Nick on...Mamas and Pop, Grandma and Grandpa, and even Grandpa S. came to watch (even though he was on field duty). Next game is Thursday night at 6PM...under the lights!

BABY NORA'S BLOG DEBUT!

Congratulations to Cathy and Zak who welcomed their sweet baby girl today! Nora arrived at 5:38 this morning and weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz. She was born with a fever and is being held in an intermediate nursery until her bloodwork comes back on Friday...please pray for favorable results and a timely release from the hospital. The new Mommy sounds pooped but is doing well!

Congrats to proud Grandparents Mom and Rich who can finally buy something pink! ;)

Nick and Noah can't wait to meet their new cousin! We are planning to take a trip to DC next month to meet her.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Here are a few pictures from Nicholas' first day of Kindergarten (there is one picture with the boys and our neighbor Anthony who started pre-school the same day). He was such a brave boy, he pretty much went into the classroom and didn't look back! I must say I did very well...there were no tears shed (although I was having episodes the day before). It's going to be such an adjustment for all of us, Nick being in school all day, Noah not having his big brother to entertain him, and me not having my baby here for the first time in six years. But as I write this post he has been going for a few days now and according to his teacher he is doing really well!

Noah, on the other hand, will not be going to pre-school until January. He wants to be just like his brother in every other way except going on the potty! (You have to be trained to attend this school.) He did start Little Gym, and since he is now in the "Funny Bugs" age group he goes to class without me for the first time. And although he was a little nervous at first, he went in with Miss Meghan and ended up having a great time! (I took these pictures through the glass in the parent's waiting room.) I can't believe my boys are growing up so fast!

THE LAST WEEK OF SUMMER!

We had a very busy week! Craig took off for the week so we got to spend some family time together before school begins. Here are some highlights and pictures of our last hoorah!

MONDAY- Started out with the kids' annual Dr. visits. They are both very healthy and are growing quickly. Nick had to get one Hep A shot, Noah got away easy this year! We headed down the shore to have lunch at the Pt. Pleasant inlet. Nick bit into his sandwich, thought he had bread stuck between his teeth and pulled out his loose tooth instead. The tooth fairy came for a visit!

TUESDAY- We went fishing off the back deck in the lagoon. Nick was a real pro casting out his pint-sized fishing pole and even caught some baby blues (with Daddy's help!) Then we went mini-golfing at Castaway Cove in Pt. Pleasant. Nick and I both got a hole-in-one!

WEDNESDAY- The kids had orientation today. Noah did really well when we left him in his classroom to listen to the presentation, although I don't think he will be starting school until January (he is not potty trained yet and refuses to wear a Pull-up). Nick was excited to see that some of his friends from Pre-K and Little League will be in his kindergarten class and I'm excited that they serve him lunch everyday! (How many cheese sandwiches could I make the kid?)

THURSDAY- HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRAIG/DADDY! You know times have changed when we sing "Happy Birthday" over a multi-grain bagel. In the early afternoon we left for an overnight trip to Atlantic City for some fun at The Borgata!

FRIDAY- We had lots of fun in AC. The kids are like little old people...they LOVE the breakfast buffet! After jumping on the beds one last time (who is Noah talking to??) we stopped at RSC to visit our old stomping grounds and my cousin Lauren, who happens to live in an E Court apt. just steps away from where I lived 13 years ago! (Boy do I feel OLD!)

SATURDAY- Happy birthday Part II! We always seem to celebrate Craig's birthday for DAYS...I guess that's what happens when your birthday falls on Labor Day weekend! We had famous Obco's donuts for breakfast. (He was a little hung over thanks to a late night trip to Used To Be's with his cousins!) It was a gorgeous day, and we spent it on the beach soaking up the sun. Jacque taught Nick to boogie board and he had such a blast! Noah felt a little more comfortable on land... Jacque took these great pictures of us on the beach as the sun was setting before we had dinner at Aunt Donna & Uncle Johnny's.

SUNDAY- More crabbing/fishing with Uncle Chris and Matteo and yep, you guessed it, Happy birthday part III! This was the "official" birthday dinner. Here is a picture of Noah and Matteo after Jacque spiked their hair and singing Happy Birthday with the "official" birthday cake!

MONDAY- What else but Happy birthday part IV? Thanks to Mom and Rich for making one of Craig's favorites, Osso bucco!

It wasn't a bad week considering all the boys ended up with terrible colds. It's always sad to pack up the shore house at the end of the summer but I am looking forward to jeans, apple scented Yankee Candles and dinner in the crock pot!

BUNNIES!

We are the proud parents of baby bunnies! They were born under the tree next to our driveway sometime in the past two weeks (their eyes are still closed). We got to see them the other night when the Mama came to feed them. She got startled by our neighbor who was mowing his lawn and ran away, leaving the poor things to fend for themselves. They all made it back into the den except for one, who rolled down the hill and into our driveway. We went inside, hoping she would come back and pick him up, but when I went back out to check he had crawled underneath Craig's car! So I put on latex gloves, picked him up, and put him back in his hole. We've been checking to make sure the mother has come back, and yesterday I found her keeping watch from behind our fence. Soon they should be big enough to hippity-hop away!

LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER

The kids and I decided to take advantage of the last few days of summer with a trip to the Staten Island Zoo yesterday. This zoo is one of our favorite places to go. It is close, small enough to do in about two hours and has a feeding area, aquarium and reptile house. I particularly enjoyed the prairie dogs, Nick got to see the vampire bats (he has a thing for bats lately) and Noah liked feeding and petting the donkeys. We'll be taking a few more day trips before school starts on September 8th...Craig took next week off so we could spend some time down the shore and we'll be going to AC for his birthday!

NICK'S FIRST LOOSE TOOTH!

While we were playing this afternoon I noticed the space between Nick's bottom teeth was bigger than usual and the gums under one of the teeth were red. So I asked him if I could wiggle it, and sure enough...my "baby" has his first loose tooth!

Here are a few pics of the candy buffet I put together for the kids' birthday party. We chose gumballs, Twizzlers, gummi bears, swirled lollipops, Hershey's miniatures and old fashioned candy sticks. I finished the display with Buzz Lightyear balloons and blue treat bags to fit in with our theme. It was a huge hit with the kids AND the adults. Who doesn't love candy??

This weekend we celebrated Nick and Noah's birthdays with a Buzz Lightyear themed party. Even though we had quite a few last minute cancellations we still had a great time with all our family and friends. Of course, it rained. Elisa and I have figured out that we only get a sunny day every five years (since last year was the only one we've had since Nick's been born), so we should be good in 2013! I must say I've gotten much better as far as getting upset about weather or anything else goes. Case in point, the icing on the cake that I mentioned in the previous post...which cracked right in the middle of Buzz's face! (Having a bigger house to fit lots of people helps ALOT, too!) Anyway...we ordered pizza, which was great because we didn't have to cook and were able to visit with everyone and even play a few beer games! (Well Craig did, not me!) The kids took a dip in the pool between rain showers and we played hot potato for prizes. Then it was time for cake and cupcakes and make your own ice cream sundaes- which was a BIG hit! Instead of goodie bags this year I set up a candy buffet with gumballs, Twizzlers, Hershey's miniatures, lollipops, gummi bears and old fashioned candy sticks. Everyone got to make up their own bag to take home with them. The kids got so many fun gifts...they wanted to play with everything as soon as they unwrapped it! After everyone left we chilled out and opened a few of the toys. It was an early night for everyone, including me, I fell asleep with Nick around 8:00 and didn't wake up until 7:00 this morning!

I feel truly blessed knowing my children are so loved. We would like to thank everyone for making the day so special!

Next he had a full breakfast of french toast, eggs and sausage!

Mamas and Pop came over after Mamas' dentist appointment. She and the boys made the buttercream icing for the birthday cake while Pop set up our scanner! YAY! It was so hot and humid today that the icing didn't set very well. I think the poor cake was doomed from the start.

After all that hard work it was time for a dip in the pool! (One of these things is not like the other...)

Even though he wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese's for his birthday dinner, we were able to convince Noah to go to Burger King since we had to much to do to get ready for tomorrow's party!

Six years ago today I had the most difficult and amazing experience of my life. After two days of induction and labor, this warm little ball finally came out. At that moment my life had been changed forever. I never knew that I could love another human being so much. My heart had been born...and we named him Nicholas.

There are so many things I love about Nick. I love the way he makes his brother laugh. I love that he picks me wild flowers on the way to the park. I love how he digs his feet underneath me to get warm at night. I love how easy it is for him to make friends, how he tells me, "I love you Mom, you're the best", I love his cheesy smile. Don't get me wrong, he has his moments. He is an A#1 skutcher! But he is the best kid anyone could ask for. I think I'll keep him.

We had a great day full of celebration. Here are some pictures of the day's events!

Here are the kids in front of the rocket. We had to launch it at 8 AM, because Daddy wanted to. Who's present is this, anyway?

Here are the rocket scientists prior to lift off. You had to fill this thing with water then pump it 150 times so that it would fly 100 feet into the air...

where it stayed until the wind kicked up enough for it to fall half-way back to Earth and close enough for Craig to climb a ladder and get it.

Then our friends Stephanie, Dean and Nora came over to go swimming. They brought presents and a Lil love ice cream cake. They are very silly together!

Nick picked Friendly's for his birthday dinner. It had to be the LOUDEST dinner we have ever had thanks to the birthday party in the other room. Craig and I felt very old complaining about all the racket! haha When the waiters came out to sing Happy Birthday...Nick didn't even know they were singing to him!

We ended the day with a trip to Toys R Us. We had to return the bunk GX racing set that didn't work, so Nick got the Hot Wheels Color Blaster instead. Noah dragged a Step2 mailbox around the entire store so guess what he's getting tomorrow ;)

Pop is in charge of setting up our scanner tomorrow while Mom and I make the kids' birthday cake so I'm hoping to post some pics from birthdays passed. Stay tuned for more of the birthday extravaganza in the next few days!

It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed since the first post on the Brown Family Blog! I have to admit, I love blogging...I think of it as my virtual scrapbook. I love the fact that I can look back on all of the wonderful things we have done and all the milestones we have passed while sharing all our special moments with family and friends. To everyone who has visited our site, thank you! Here's to the next year of memories!

PS- Stay tuned to the Brown Family blog! I'm looking forward to taking the blog in a new direction as far as entries go. I've been inspired by reading other women's websites and love how they use them as journals, recipe exchanges, businesses, sounding-boards, soapboxes, you name it. I'm not sure how brave I'll be as far as that goes, but I can't wait to see what this coming year has in store for me!
